Nicole Reddington is a freelance cellist (and also a librarian) and has performed in a wide range of projects, bands and recordings. She brings new perspective to traditional cello roles through her improvising work in solo performances, project ensembles and has also worked extensively in theatre including Dunedin based Scorcher Production’s Last Postcard to Cuba. For a time, Nicole was also part of a tango band and the experimental ensemble, Silencio, in Christchurch. Her most recent projects have been working on recorded and live soundtracks and providing cello parts to several local bands including Lyttelton’s Jazz Quarter and Demarnia Lloyd. Nicole enjoys reintroducing the beautiful yet melancholic sound of the cello to people in various settings and through theatre and spicing things up by adding a bit of technology to the whole experiment.
She has collaborated with Free Theatre on a number of performances as both a solo and group performer including Nico Sphinx of Ice, Distraction Camp (2009) and The Mauricio Kagel Project (2015).
